Billerud Korsnäs’ new board machine in Gruvön is up and running. The machine’s total capacity of 550,000 tpy will be reached in 2023.
Billerud Korsnäs has commissioned its new board machine BM 7 at the Swedish Gruvön plant. The company reported that test runs had been carried out in April and that production ramp up was on white-top kraftlliner and cupstock. Commercial production is expected to begin in May. In the fourth quarter 2019, the machine would then be ready to start qualifications of liquid packaging board, Billerud Korsnäs said.
The product portfolio of the new BM 7 includes virgin-fibre based liquid packaging board, cartonboard and white-top kraftliner. When operating in full, the 8.6 m wide machine has a production capacity of 550,000 tpy. For the current year, Billerud Korsnäs expects an output of 240,000 t. This volume is planned to rise to 390,000 t next year. The machine will reach full capacity in 2023, according to the company.
